Western single-point is a technique practiced by master engravers and involves deep V-groove chiseled leaf, rope, and similar repetitions. Although an adaptation of the European scroll, the technique and tooling produce a style that has become uniquely American, often associated with the “wild west”. Commonly seen on six shooters and rifles, this style of chisel work has a deeper, more pronounced look than the fine English scroll. Click image for description.
